Real Stories. Real Advice. Real Moms.

I have a five year old daughter who is very girly. I am struggling with what to get her for Christmas. She continues to play with toys that my other three year old daughter enjoys, however, I am looking for age appropriate toys and toys to challenge her cognitively. She currently enjoys her dolls, doll house, dress-up clothes, puzzles, coloring, painting, books, and kitchen pretend play.

My advice is to get her something that she is interested in!!! You named off a lot items that she likes to play with so go toward that!! Let kids be kids and get her something she will be happy with and you'll be happy that you spent your money on something she will like and use!! Just my thoughts and Merry Christmas!!

I agree with Shawna! You should have no problem getting her anything. I made a dress up chest for my daughter by buying clothes from a consignment shop. I usually never go to them but I found a lot of really shimmery dresses for like $1.00 in mint condition. I also bought some hats and got some play jewlery from the dollar store and got this really cute chest at Target. She LOVED it! I would look into Imaginarium toys. They have a web site and their toys are always in Toys R Us. I am sure whatever you get her will be perfect! Good luck!

Take her to build a bear and make what she wants. Take her to Chuck E Cheese to play and then have pizza and afterwards take her to get icecream. Check out the Barbie Diamond Castle stuff-horse, dolls, house- it is pretty. Also there are dvd's that you can get of movies she might like. She may not need any more toys. Maybe you can get her a workbook that you can sit down to do above grade level activities- she may like the challenge. That would be a weekly activity outside of school that she can do with you.

you can give Santa Claus, the best gift of Christmas. Recently I have bought new animated Santa for my younger brother.

Let her tell you. My daughter is 2 and a few times this week we have walked through the toy section and i let her run around and point out the things she wants keeping in mind the things i can afford and the things that are age appropriate. It really helps becuse like your daughter mine is very girly and for 2 year olds there isn't much out there. Or help her to write a wish list to santa

I received a catalog in the mail that has some really neat stuff in it. My daughter is 6 and I am planning on Santa's gifts to come from there. It is called www.MindWare.com

Check out their website. I know you will find something in there that will be fun for her.

I would look towards puzzles, coloring, painting, books and bring out her artistic side. Add in some light colored nail polish for little girls and a doll. She looks up to her older sisters so her toys will seem like baby toys.

Exactly, I think she may have had a master plan. Her whole schtick makes for good reality TV and she definitely gets a lot of press.
